In 1949, a few years after World War II, a huge peace congress organized by the (communist inspired) World Peace Movement was held in Paris. For this occasion, Picasso designed a poster to symbolize the peace movement. Picasso draws the profile of a pigeon, like the white doves he keeps in cages in his studio and like the doves on the trees of his childhood
